new to heating oil?

If you have just moved to a new house which uses home heating oil or are thinking about converting to an efficient oil-fired heating system, you can find out all you need to know from Watson Fuels. With over 50 years of experience, we can offer invaluable advice about heating oil and your heating system.

Which heating oil do I need?

Although some domestic boilers use gas oil, the vast majority of oil-fired boilers and cookers are fuelled by kerosene (also known as home heating oil, heating oil and burning oil.) If you are unsure which type of oil your heating system or range uses, please speak to our depot local to you or send an enquiry via the website.

How do I find my heating oil nearest depot?

To find your heating oil nearest depot, please enter your postcode in the box on the left hand side of this page. We will then provide you with the details of the depot local to you or let you know if we do not deliver in your area. You can also contact us by filling in our online enquiry form.

What do I need to know before ordering?

  • It would be helpful if you know the capacity of your heating oil tank. You can work this out by taking the measurements of a metal tank or by locating the model number on a plastic tank. Otherwise, simply call us and our depot staff will be happy to work the details out for you.
  • You should make sure that your boiler and tank have been recently serviced by a qualified engineer. If any maintenance is required, arrange for one of our engineers to visit before ordering your oil.
  • Once you have paid for your first delivery, you might like to consider setting up a monthly payment scheme to spread the cost over the year.
  • Make your first order the last one you need to remember by using our automatic oil top-up service.

Does the quantity I order influence the price?

Larger quantities are cheaper to purchase per litre than smaller quantities. In particular, ordering 500 litres at a time puts the cost up to you and to us. Why not order a larger quantity and, if you are on our monthly payment scheme, you can spread the cost of the fuel you will use over the year.

How can I pay you for my oil delivery?

We offer a range of payment methods to suit all our customers:

  • When you are an established customer you can simply open up a monthly payment scheme and pay by direct debit
  • Pay online by Switch, Visa or Mastercard
  • Pay over the phone by Switch, Visa or Mastercard.
